California Master Plan for Aging is Released

On June 10, 2019, California Governor Gavin Newsom issued Executive Order N-14-19, calling for a California Master Plan for Aging (Master Plan). The Executive Order affirmed the priority of the health and well-being of older Californians and the need for policies that promote healthy aging. It also called for a “blueprint” for state government, local government, the private sector, and philanthropy to prepare the state for the coming demographic changes and continue California’s leadership in aging, disability, and equity.

Since that time, the state engaged stakeholders in a 14-month planning process, culminating with the release of the Governor’s Master Plan for Aging on January 6, 2021.

This historic milestone brings the opportunity to decisively address the needs of older Californians through a thoughtful, comprehensive, and outcomes-oriented strategy.
